Our flag football program provides players a fun and exciting opportunity to participate in non-contact flag football. We like to set ourselves apart by giving players a fun and challenging atmosphere.
The program is designed to educate players about football while encouraging participation and sportsmanship. Players learn skills and valuable lessons that help them succeed both on and off the field.
On Saturday, October 17th,
our STARS flag football team participated in the Special
Olympics Inaugural Flag Football Tournament. After
many weeks of practice, the athletes and coaches were ready
for some football, even though the weather was down right
cold! Athletes and coaches were bundled up from head
to toe and so were the many spectators that game out to
watch the event. The STARS team participated in three
games and we are happy to say that they played very well in
each of their games. Two of the games they played in
were against the teams from Williamson County who they had
scrimmaged with during our practices. All the STARS
players showed their flag football skills, with great plays
on both offense and defense. Touchdowns were scored in all
three games and at the end of the day the STARS had won one
game and had a lot of fun. We want to thank Special
Olympics and their sponsors for a great tournament and for
the Certificate of Participation and t-shirt each athlete
and coach received. We also want to thank all the
families who came out and helped the athletes and coaches
during the event. We really appreciate your help!
We are proud of all the athletes who participated in the
tournament and they were: Amanda Amsler, Zack Craig,
Eric Davis, Christopher Lacy, Josh Lathrop, Alex Maye, Matt
McDonald, Cory Nelms, and Marvin Robinson and coaches
Tricia Lacy and Steve Marshall.
