L.E.A.R.N. POINT SYSTEM

The L.E.A.R.N. Point System was chosen by L.E.A.R.N. families as the method we will use for determining Special Olympic participation in the event L.E.A.R.N. has more participants than slots available at the tournaments.

Points will be awarded for the following:

One Point

On time sign-up – within two (2) weeks of the Parent Sport Meeting (1 point, one time)

**In order to receive the 1 point the Registration form must be completed and signed, the Point System form must be signed, and your donation fee paid by Saturday, January 23rd.**

Athletes will receive 1 point for each practice/scrimmage that they show-up for.

Two Points

Having a parent that coach. (2 points, one time)

We would like to have 2 coaches and 1 – 2 assistant coaches for each team (10 players).

Registration Deadline:

L.E.A.R.N. families also chose a deadline for signing up for each L.E.A.R.N. sports program. Athletes must be registered by Saturday, January 30^th, in order to meet this deadline.

Additional Information:

We will provide a 2010 basketball schedule to all parents/guardians as soon as possible. Our season begins today and ends on Saturday, February 27^th. We will be practicing most Saturdays from 10:00am – 12:00pm in the gym at First Baptist Church (FBC). We will have some home and away scrimmage games throughout the season. Some away scrimmage games may be on different days and/or times. We may also add a Thursday evening practice in order to prepare for the scrimmages and Special Olympic Tournaments.

Special Olympic Regional Tournament: Saturday, March 6^th, 8:00am – 4:00pm at Ensworth School in Nashville.

Special Olympic State Basketball Tournament will be held at Lipscomb University in Nashville. This is a two day tournament beginning on Friday, March 12^th and ending Saturday, March 13^th. Teams will parade in on Friday afternoon for the opening ceremonies and then play games Friday night and all day Saturday.

We will have more information regarding the Special Olympics Basketball Tournaments at a later date.
